3 Days in Artemida: The Perfect Itinerary Near Athens

What if your Greek escape didn't have to choose between the beach, ancient history and Athens?

Staying in Artemida, on the eastern coast of Attica, gives you the opportunity to experience all three — while still having enough time to slow down and enjoy your holiday.

Located close to Athens International Airport and surrounded by the coastline of eastern Attica, Artemida can work particularly well as a base for travellers who want more than a traditional city break.

Three days won't show you everything.

But they are enough to swim in the Aegean, enjoy Greek food by the sea, discover an ancient sanctuary, explore Athens and still find time to do absolutely nothing beside your private pool.

Here is one way to spend three memorable days in Artemida.

Day 1 — Arrive, Slow Down & Discover Artemida

Your first day shouldn't feel like an itinerary.

Especially after a flight.

Arrive at Azure Harmony Pool Villa, settle into your space and give yourself some time to switch into holiday mode.

Unpack.

Make a coffee.

Step outside.

And take your first swim in the private pool.

There will be plenty of time for sightseeing tomorrow.

Afternoon — Meet the Aegean

Later in the afternoon, head towards the Artemida coastline.

The town has a varied waterfront, ranging from easily accessible sandy sections to quieter coastal spots and areas known for windsurfing and other water sports.

You don't necessarily need to choose the "best" beach on your first day.

Find somewhere that feels right, take a swim and enjoy your first few hours beside the Aegean.

If you want to explore your options in advance, our Best Beaches in Artemida guide covers several different choices for swimming, relaxing and water activities.

Evening — Dinner by the Sea

As the temperature begins to fall, stay near the coast.

Artemida has a strong tradition of Greek and Mediterranean dining, particularly fresh fish and seafood.

Rather than searching for something complicated, embrace the local rhythm.

Order a Greek salad.

Choose several mezedes for the table.

Try fresh fish or grilled seafood.

And don't rush.

Greek summer evenings are meant to take their time.

Our Where to Eat in Artemida guide can help you discover different local dining options during your stay.

Then return to Azure Harmony for a quiet first evening beside the pool.

Day One Philosophy:
Arrive. Swim. Eat. Relax.

That's enough.

Day 2 — Discover Ancient Vravrona & Eastern Attica

After a relaxed first day, use your second morning to discover some of the history surrounding Artemida.

And you don't need to travel into central Athens to find it.

Morning — Vravrona

Start with Vravrona — ancient Brauron, one of the most important archaeological destinations in eastern Attica.

The ancient sanctuary here was dedicated to Artemis, and the area played an important religious role in ancient Attica.

The nearby Archaeological Museum of Vravrona contains finds spanning from the 3rd millennium BC through the 4th century AD and provides valuable context for understanding the sanctuary and the wider Mesogaia region. Archaeological Museum of Vravrona

Compared with the major archaeological sites of central Athens, the experience feels very different.

Quieter.

More connected to the surrounding landscape.

And much less like a checklist attraction.

Lunch — Take Your Time

After Vravrona, stop for lunch somewhere in the wider coastal area.

There is no need to schedule every hour.

One of the benefits of exploring eastern Attica is being able to combine sightseeing with an unhurried meal and a drive along the coast.

Afternoon — Choose Your Own Route

This is where Day 2 becomes flexible.

You have several options.

You could return towards Artemida and spend the afternoon at the beach.

Or continue north towards Rafina, walk around the harbour and stop for coffee while watching ferries depart for the Aegean islands.

More adventurous travellers with a car could continue towards Marathon and Schinias, combining history with one of eastern Attica's most interesting natural landscapes.

The Schinias–Marathon protected area covers approximately 1,332 hectares and combines wetland, coastal and other important ecosystems.

Our Things to Do Near Artemida guide explores these options in greater detail.

Late Afternoon — Back to the Pool

And now stop sightseeing.

Return to Azure Harmony.

This is exactly why having a private villa changes the rhythm of a trip.

You don't need to remain outside all day simply because you left in the morning.

Come home.

Swim.

Read.

Sleep for an hour.

Have a drink beside the pool.

The destination is part of your holiday.

But so is the place you are staying.

Evening — Your Villa, Your Dinner

For the second evening, consider staying in.

Pick up fresh bread, tomatoes, feta, olives, fruit and whatever else catches your eye.

Azure Harmony's fully equipped kitchen gives you the freedom to prepare something simple and enjoy dinner in your own space.

Not every Greek meal needs a restaurant.

Sometimes bread, tomatoes, feta, olive oil and a summer evening are more than enough.

Day Two Philosophy:
Explore. Discover. Return. Unwind.

Day 3 — Athens or the Coast? You Decide

For your final full day, there are two very different options.

And both are good ones.

Option A — Spend the Day in Athens

If this is your first visit to Greece, dedicate Day 3 to Athens.

Leave Artemida in the morning and head towards the historic centre.

Start with the Acropolis, home to the Parthenon and some of the most important surviving monuments of Classical Greece.

Then continue to the Acropolis Museum, before walking into Plaka for lunch.

During the afternoon, explore the historic centre towards the Ancient Agora and Monastiraki before eventually reaching Syntagma.

If you still have energy, finish the day with dinner or a drink overlooking the illuminated Acropolis.

We've created a complete Artemida to Athens Day Trip guide with a simple route that covers the essential sights without trying to see the entire city in one day.

Then return to Artemida.

And notice the contrast.

After the energy, traffic and history of Athens, you are back beside the coast and in your own private space.

That contrast is part of the experience.

Option B — Forget the City & Follow the Coast

Already visited Athens?

Or simply don't feel like spending your final day in a city?

Then don't.

A holiday doesn't need to include every famous attraction.

Spend the morning swimming.

Have a long lunch.

Explore another beach.

Drive along the eastern Attica coastline.

Stop somewhere simply because the view looks interesting.

Or go absolutely nowhere.

Stay at Azure Harmony.

Put your phone away.

Swim in the pool.

Read a book.

Have another coffee.

Take an afternoon nap.

There is nothing unproductive about enjoying the place you travelled all this way to experience.

Day Three Philosophy:
Explore Athens — or don't.

The choice is yours.

What About Cape Sounion?

If you have a car and would like one larger road trip, Cape Sounion is another option worth considering during a longer stay.

At the southern tip of Attica stands the ancient Temple of Poseidon, dramatically positioned above the Aegean Sea.

The archaeological site is particularly famous for its coastal setting and sunset views.

Because Sounion requires considerably more driving than Vravrona or Rafina, we wouldn't try to squeeze it into an already busy sightseeing day.

Give it the time it deserves.

For current visitor information, consult the official Hellenic Heritage information for Sounion before travelling.

If You Have More Than Three Days

This is where Artemida becomes even more interesting.

With additional time, you can stop thinking in itineraries altogether.

Dedicate one entire day to the beach.

Spend another exploring Athens.

Visit Marathon and Schinias.

Take the drive south towards Cape Sounion.

Or head towards Rafina Port, from where ferries connect Attica with several Aegean islands.

And leave at least one day completely empty.

Some of the best holiday days begin without a plan.

A Practical Tip: Consider Renting a Car

You can enjoy Artemida without driving everywhere, but a rental car becomes particularly useful if you intend to explore Vravrona, Rafina, Marathon, Schinias or other parts of Attica.

Athens International Airport has car-rental services available directly from the terminal area, making it possible to collect a vehicle shortly after arrival. Athens International Airport – Car Rentals

For travellers who mainly want the villa, beach and local restaurants, taxis and local transport may be sufficient.

Choose based on the holiday you actually want rather than renting a car simply because you think you should.

Three Days, Three Different Experiences

What makes a stay in Artemida interesting is the variety.

Day One:
The sea, local food and your private pool.

Day Two:
Ancient Vravrona and the landscapes of eastern Attica.

Day Three:
The Acropolis and Athens — or another completely relaxed day beside the coast.

Within a relatively short stay, you can experience three very different sides of Greece.

And every evening, you return to the same place.

Your own villa.

Your own space.

Your own pool.

Your Space. Your Time. Your Summer.

At Azure Harmony Pool Villa, there is no fixed way to spend your holiday.

Explore ancient Greece in the morning and swim in your private pool in the afternoon.

Spend a day discovering Athens and the next doing absolutely nothing.

Have dinner beside the sea or prepare something at home.

Wake up early.

Sleep late.

Make plans.

Change them.

That's the freedom of having a place of your own.

Welcome to Azure Harmony Pool Villa.

Your Space. Your Time. Your Summer.
